Dorian is joined by Tegan Creedy from the charity HappySpaceUK to discuss how schools can support young people by providing a toolkit of strategies to both get ahead of and to deal with mental health issues and to ensure that these issues are weaved into the fabric of the curriculum.
Tegan delivers an insight into the research that has been carried out in order to tailor programmes to meet the needs within a school or community. Every school has a responsibility to support and safeguard the mental wellbeing of their students, but do they know how to do so effectively and are teachers lacking training or means to do so? Tegan suggests that we can normalise conversations and actions through making 'imperfect' steps every day.
This felt like an illuminating, powerful show and not only made me think but also challenged some of my misconceptions and I will definitely be bringing a bit more gratitude into my classrooms henceforth.
