Episode 52 of The HD Movie Podcast here! Your hosts Hayley Alice Roberts and Darren Gaskell return to properly kick off their run for 2022 after the extra unscheduled episode covering the new Scream movie.
And what a start to the new run it is as it's a bumper episode covering the Troll saga! First up, it's John Carl Buechler's TROLL from 1986 in which a young lad called Harry Potter gets embroiled in a tale involving monsters and magic. That sounds familiar...
In the middle of our tasty Troll baloney sandwich it's Claudio Fragasso's (or is it Drake Floyd's?) 1990 masterpiece TROLL 2, a movie which has been widely hailed as one of the very worst of all time. Does it live down to its expectations and, if so, is it possible to enjoy it on any level?
Rounding off our triple Troll threat is Michael Stephenson's 2009 documentary BEST WORST MOVIE which takes an affectionate look at the making of TROLL 2, catching up with its cast and delving into how the film has been reassessed over the years.
Expect embarrassed actors, quotable lines of dialogue, why it's always useful to be able to read a word backwards and much more as Hayley and Darren face this Troll invasion (well, it's mostly goblins, but there you go).
