The President of the European Commission says we face the largest build-up of troops on European soil since the darkest days of the Cold War.
Ursula von der Leyen made the comments during a debate in the European Parliament this morning on Russia’s military threat against Ukraine.
The EU boss told MEPs the people of Ukraine are bravely trying to get on with their lives. Many of them keep emergency bags by their front doors she said in case they have to rush away from home.
But Ireland South MEP Grace O’Sullivan is warning more diplomacy and less talk of war is what’s required to reduce tensions between all sides.
