We discuss the rise of book banning and censorship from the GOP and conservative parents and communities throughout the United States this year in the wake of the especially stupid, dangerous censorship of the Pulitzer prize winning graphic novel Maus in the McMinn County Schools district in Tennessee. Emboldened parents are increasingly interfering in public education claiming "parental choice" as an excuse to shut down class discussions on everything from accurate American history to gender and sexuality, to the Holocaust.
