Competition, high work-load, and constant quantification of outputs are dominant features of contemporary academic life. In addition, early career researchers often work on short-term contracts and face an uncertain future. In this episode, Prof. Marlene Dixon shares reflections and lessons learned from her career in sport management and the messages she wants to share especially with early career researchers pursuing this path.

Marlene Dixon is professor of Sport Management at Texas A&M University. Her research has explored various topics in sport management including girls’ and women’s participation in sport, the work-life interface in sport-work, and sport for development projects.
