Healthy churches/disciples are servants.

 

 

1. Greatness is not self-promotion. (vv. 20–21)

 

Greatness is not in position—it is in perseverance.

 

Philippians 2:3-5 Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. 4 Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,

 

2. Greatness is not in power. (v. 25)

 

Philippians 2:6-8 who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

 

3. Greatness is found in serving. (vv. 27–28)

Quote: “True Christianity is not about adding Jesus to your life. Instead, it is about devoting myself completely to Him—submitting wholly to His will and seeking to please Him above all else.”

 

3 John 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

 

2 Corinthians 4:18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

 

Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unjust so as to overlook your work and the love that you have shown for his name in serving the saints, as you still do.
