Today's Battle Drill Devotional: Stop and Embrace Your Limits
“Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honoured by every nation.
I will be honoured throughout the world.” (Psalm 46:10)
Read Psalm 46:1-11. I have a confession to make: I find it difficult to stop until I have finished what I am doing. Even if I know I will have time to go back to something, I will still rather get it done. There always seems to be one more thing to get done before stopping!
Keeping Sabbath means embracing our limits. Many of us (me included!) need to be reminded that God is God, not us! He is the one who is indispensable. I am not. He is the Creator. I am merely his creature. The world will continue to revolve even when I stop!
We stop on Sabbaths to remind us that God is still on the throne. He assures us the world will not fall apart because we have chosen to stop working for 24 hours! God takes care of the universe without much help from us. So, he commands us to be still and to stop worrying about tomorrow.
Do you trust God enough to stop?
