The one big thing that I put down as something to do this year was take a hike. Last week was spring break and we went to Mt. Charleston National Park to do just that. Round trip it was a 3.8 mile hike with an elevation climb of a little over one-thousand feet. I can’t recall the elevation of where we were at just that we climbed more than one-thousand feet in elevation.
As we got closer to the side of the mountain there were signs that read, “don’t take the shortcut.” When I read the sign I didn’t fully understand until I started to see how the path zig zagged. My oldest son took the bait and immediately crossed between the lower portion of the path and the higher one. I told him not to do it again and he asked why?
