Welcome to Proper Mental episode 72 with Matt Stocks, who is a presenter, DJ, author and Podcaster.
Matt Started out on Kerrang! Radio before launching his podcast Life in the Stocks which features in-depth and candid interviews with a huge range of creatives from across different fields.
He also DJ’s all over the country, tours with some incredible bands and hosts regular Q&A live events with the like of Paddy Considine and Dirty Sanchez.
Matt lives a very unconventional life and it was awesome to chat to him about living life on his own terms. He has built a life for himself where he gets to do what he loves while meeting and working with his musical hero’s and that comes with plenty of downs as well as the more obvious ups!
We chat about his experiences with mental health, the beauty in connecting through conversations, living free and how he went full gonzo and channelled his hero Hunter S. Thompson when writing his first book during the pandemic.
It was such a pleasure to chat to Matt! He is the definition of authentic and a really lovely guy. His podcast has been a huge influence on Proper Mental and it was a podcasting highlight for me to chat to him about the power of deep and meaningful conversations.
Matt’s new book, Life In The Stocks: Volume Two: Veracious Conversations with Musicians & Creatives, is out now and you can grab a copy in all the usual bookshops.
You can follow Matt on Instagram @mattstocksdj and his podcasts ‘Life in the Stocks’ and ‘Stoke the Fire’ are available on all podcast platforms.
