As hard as it is to confess, the white church in America has failed to embrace our black brothers and sisters in Christ as fellow citizens and members of the household of faith. Historically, we have built up the dividing wall of racism that Christ came to tear down. This morning, we try to do what Daniel did in his prayer, to confess the sins of our fathers. In doing so, we discover that racism is endemic to our sin nature, to have sympathy for the lasting impact of racism, to have a caring ear to the concerns of others, and to develop courage that the white church has historically lacked. (Daniel 9.3-8) September 15, 2019.
