Taoiseach Micheál Martin along with the President of the European Parliament, will unveil a bronze bust of the late SDLP leader and former MEP John Hume in the European Parliament in Strasbourg later today (around 5pm Irish time).
The statue was made by Dublin-based sculptor Liz O’Kane who is originally from Northern Ireland. It’s been donated to the Parliament by the Irish government.
Midlands North-West MEP Colm Markey says the placing of the statue in the European Parliament is very significant.
