It’s Not in Your Head with Dr. Efrat LaMandre

In today’s episode, I’m joined by Dr. Efrat LaMandre, a medical practitioner at EG Healthcare. Dr. E is also the developer of the KNEW method and the author of It's Not In Your Head: Your Body Doesn’t Feel Right but You Don’t Know Why.  She is the first Nurse Practitioner in Staten Island to own a medical practice autonomously. Her practice is proudly LGBT friendly and collabrates with other practitioners to provide transgender health care. Although one of her “titles” is Nurse Practitioner, to me, she is an Earth Angel in the community and for those that are blessed to be served by her.  

 

The moment you enter her office + space you are immediately met with the warm, loving, healing energy of Dr. E and her staff. Efrat is determined to bring a sense of community and support back to healthcare. Efrat is committed to giving back to the community through her work with Wagner College, Staten Island University Hospital, and the College of Staten Island. I’m so grateful that my community has a healthcare provider like her who feels empathy deeply and can break down problems in simple terms and takes the time to diagnose the cause of problems - not just the symptoms.   

 

Efrat shares her personal journey and how her wife’s autoimmune led to the birth of the Knew Method.  We both share about our own personal healthing journeys and how functional medicine helped heal us and our loved ones by addressing the cause of the problem - not just addressing the symptoms. 

Functional medicine is a wholistic approach which addresses physical, mental, and spiritual needs and prioritizes nutrition, exercise and mindfulness to address ailments. It isn’t a one size or one drug fit’s all approach to healthcare- it combines the best of results-based medicine with integrative care to provide results for patients.
