Poetry is a most mysterious phenomenon. It is the heart of truth, the soul of emotion, closer to music than storytelling; the meaning of life revealed in rhythm, rhyme, sound and symbol, when words are woven with the loose gaze of the wandering mind. Logic has its rightful place and to some extent is part of every poem, but poetry comes from a unique angle, being the meaning we read between the lines, touching the depths of what we can never quite explain. Life without poetry is a desperate affair, whether one realises it or not. Often overlooked and underrated, many seem to think it’s neither necessary, cool, nor particularly interesting. Guess again, friend! You just haven’t yet found the poetry that sings the song of your soul, but it is out there somewhere – and perhaps in there, within. Even the most artistically apathetic person can’t help swaying in time to music, rapping along with Eminem as he flows, and falling to their heavenly doom at the hands of a few well-chosen words that illuminate whatever they have been living, or would like to live. This episode will teach you (with live demonstrations!) a few ways to write your own poetry, as only you can – to express your thoughts and feelings in ink and so create a feedback loop of elevated awareness and connection to beauty that will enrich every moment of your life – as well as discussing the profound nature of poetry and sharing some poems which I particularly love. This episode is abstract and practical, like poetry.
