K1 If you had one day to pack a “grab and go” backpack ready for the apocalypse, what would you pack? Remember you can only pack what you can carry!

G1 What are the many things that you are worried about? One the handout or in a notebook write out the many things you are worried or concerned about as if it is a prayer to Jesus.
G2 Jesus says in Luke 10:42: “few things are necessary”. What few things might he be talking about?
G3 He narrows is down to “indeed, only one”? What is He getting at? What is the “one thing”? Why did Jesus not spell out specifically what the “one thing” is?
G4 Think about your life – where are your priorities either in line with or out of whack with Jesus’ “many things, few things and one thing”? Is your current way of doing life making you happy?
G5 What verses can you think of that point us towards this “one thing” (couple of possible answers: Luke 10:28-29, John 5:30, Micah 6:8, Matthew 16:24-26, Gal 5:6). Any others you can think of?
G6 How is Mary an example of us being UNEXPECTED or COUNTER-CULTURAL is choosing the one thing? What ways is Jesus calling you to be counter-cultural in choosing the one thing?
