And then there was one. After the seemingly endless buffet of daily bowl games for the past, oh, five weeks or so, one lone game remains on the 2019-20 college football schedule.
So as we wind down our final show of this season, we take some time to reflect on some of our favorite moments of the New Year's Six and Bowlapalooza games as well as the Playoff semifinals. (Yes, it was a catch. We're not bitter at all. But we digress.) We also look ahead with anticipation to the 2020 season and each make an outrageous prediction. (Here's hoping we do better than we did last year!)
But despite our best stalling tactics (because, really, does college football have to end?), we do finally break down the most important game of the year.
CFP National Championship: No. 3 Clemson vs. No. 1 LSU (8 ET Monday, ESPN): Based on statistics alone, this game looks to be extremely competitive. Clemson boasts the nation's best pass defense, and LSU is the top-rated overall offense (and second-best passing offense). So, Joe Burrow versus Brent Venables it is. But ... the eye test between these two teams leads us to the same conclusion for this game.
Thanks to AJ for his #GroupOfFiveAfterDark insights all season ... and thanks to all of you, our listeners and viewers, for keeping us around for eight seasons of college football silliness.
Enjoy the football, yinz. We'll see you next fall for Season Nine.
