The holidays tend to be excessive: Tons of food, too much to drink ... and a steady stream of college football for weeks. But nestled in the middle of our Bowlapalooza-level games are the traditional gems: The New Year's Six games and the two CFP semifinals. Don't think for a second that Carla and Crappy aren't enjoying all of the bowl games, but in the words of our least-favorite conference, these games just mean more.
Dec 28: Cotton Bowl Classic No. 10 Penn State vs. No. 17 Memphis: Defense — as in Penn State’s defense — wins bowl games.
Dec. 30: Orange Bowl No. 9 Florida vs. No. 24 Virginia: Will this serve as a springboard to a big 2020 for the Gators?
Jan. 1: Citrus Bowl No. 13 Alabama vs. No. 14 Michigan: Alabama was not Alabama this year. But Michigan hasn’t been Michigan in a decade or more.
Jan. 1: Rose Bowl Game No. 6 Oregon vs. No. 8 Wisconsin: Can the Big Ten win a second Rose Bowl in a row?
Jan. 1: Sugar Bowl No. 5 Georgia vs. No. 7 Baylor: It’s the dogs’ day.
Dec. 28: Peach Bowl (College Football Playoff semifinal) No. 1 LSU vs. No. 4 Oklahoma: In this case, ND doesn’t stand for Notre Dame — it stands for No Defense.
Dec. 28: Fiesta Bowl (College Football Playoff semifinal) No. 2 Ohio State vs. No. 3 Clemson: History isn’t on Ohio State’s side. But the best defense in the country is.
