With Bowlapalooza season now safely in our rear view mirrors, it's time to get down to college football business. And while we may have visions of Cotton and Fiesta Bowl glories in our minds, we take a few moments out of our hectic holiday season -- including near-misses with epic snowstorms -- to focus on the two games that really matter on New Year's Day.
And here's the really fun thing: Despite using the same data, we can't agree on either game.
Rose Bowl (5 p.m. ET, ESPN)
No. 3 Georgia vs. No. 2 Oklahoma
Georgia's got a really good defense and two outstanding running backs. Oklahoma has Baker Mayfield. Advantage? We're not sure.
Sugar Bowl (8:45 p.m. ET, ESPN)
No. 4 Alabama vs. No. 1 Clemson
Clemson has been so much better than anyone expected this season, thanks to the outstanding play of Kelly Bryant. The last time Alabama faced a true dual-threat QB, its defense struggled. But ... Alabama also boasts the Nick Saban Factor, and a motivation of national title revenge.
Pour yourself another beverage, break open those cheese and sausage platters that you received as holiday gifts, and settle in for an outstanding day of college football. What better way to welcome a new year, right? Happy 2018!
