The world food supply is in danger from bees dying. There are at least 2 trillion bees currently in the world. Estimates place the number of honeybee colonies worldwide at 81 million. There are approximately 20,000 bee species in the world. There are several species of bees listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act of 1973. In the past 20 years, bumble bees have completely disappeared from eight states and become very rare in many others. More than 80 percent of the world's flowering plants need a pollinator to reproduce, and we need pollinators too since most of our food comes from flowering plants. What Does This Mean to humanity?
