In theory, most of arable land should be used to grow wheat, corn, potatoes, amongst other agricultural products. But most of the agricultural land in England, round 85%, serves as pasture for grazing animals such as cows, or to grow food which is then given to livestock. It is an incredibly inefficient used of soil which should be used for food production for all of us rather than using the vast majority to feed ruminants, or pigs or chickens.
