Part 1 - According to the National Integrated Drought Information System, the Virgin Islands has experienced severe to extreme drought conditions since December 2021. After checking in with the National Weather Service, guest host Sommer Sibily-Brown engages Christina Chanes, a research specialist within UVI's College of Science & Math, an extension agent with UVI Cooperative Extension Services (UVICES), and the VI coordinator for Community Collaborative Rain, Hail, & Snow Network (CoCoRaHS). They explore the effects of water scarcity and the importance of collecting drought data, with a call for volunteers to participate in rainfall reporting in each of our microclimates.
