Guest: Sister in a Brotherhood Author, Cindie Schooner-Ball - Under the Shield Presents: Fight In Progress Episode 88
Welcome to Fight in Progress!
Cindie Schooner-Ball began her career as a first responder with the fire service in South Florida in the mid-80s. As a woman in a predominantly male profession, Cindie proved herself with her perseverance and grit, and gained the respect of her fellow firefighters.
Over her three-decade career, she pushed herself to tackle new challenges and rise into leadership positions. She became an EMT and then a paramedic, while also earning a degree in fire science. She promoted to Lieutenant and then achieved the rank of Captain, where she was the only woman at the induction ceremony.
Did we mention she’s a trail blazer and a badass?
Now retired, Cindie has written the book, Sister in a Brotherhood, to share her experiences as a first responder and as a woman in a male-dominated industry.
Tune in to hear her story.
