Recently there was a video on social media asking people to share something they learned on the job that they will never forget.
I was shocked how many people responded with something like, "never do more than your job or you will be taken advantage of."
I get where they are coming from. I had that issue when I worked in corporate.
I understand academically why employees disengage and I've been involved in plenty of organizational development projects (from both sides) to know the problem is more than just ping pong tables and free lunch (none of that matters with work-from-home anyway).
Kelly Stewart, Rick Alcantara, M.A. and Jonathan Gaev MSE, PMP were kind enough to spend some time with me talking about their experience, what they have seen and how they think the problem might be addressed.
It's a conversation that deserves way more than ten minutes and I hope every organization and business is having these discussions with their employees and leaders.
