This week we consider what Jesus has to say about Judgment in Luke 6. Often, we consider “blind guides” and those who judge with the “plank in their own eye” lousy religious types. But what if there is more here? What if this passage is not about bashing those who judge or refuse to forgive or remove their plank from their eye? What if, instead, this is an invitation for us to become those who are generous in the way we see others, because we have learned to be honest about how we see ourselves? What if by removing the planks we are able to compassionately and generously “see” others have sight and live free and generous lives?
