Read Luke 15:1-10. Are you glad that God is a God of second chances? I know I am!
What if the shepherd in Jesus’ story had just let the one sheep go? After all, he still had ninety-nine. He didn’t need the one. He could have told himself the silly sheep had decided to wander off. It was his own fault.
But the shepherd was willing to seek and find the lost sheep and to give him a second chance.
The Bible is full of examples of people being given a second chance by God. Moses murdered someone. David committed adultery and put the woman’s husband to death. Jonah knew what God wanted him to do and ran away from the assignment. Paul ruthlessly persecuted Christians before God gave him a second chance.
There is no doubt that God offers a second chance to anyone who is willing to take it. All you must do is reach out to him, face the future with the courage, and hope he gives you.
When you allow God to rescue you, bring you home and give you a second chance your darkness becomes light, the dry desert becomes a living stream, hopelessness becomes hopeful.
If you’re lost today, ask God to find you. He’s looking for you!
