Yes, Columbus was a creep on many levels and, yes, the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas deserve recognition both for their contributions and their suffering. The issue is, should we recognize the former in lieu of the latter? Should Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples Day be positioned as dueling holidays?
