If you have experienced a trauma, you may be left wondering why it happened and how you can heal. According to Sheree Trask, you were a victim the moment it happened, but you don’t have to remain one any longer. Sheree was sexually assaulted at age 19. She remained silent for 3.5 years. Once she broke her silence, she got sick and spent the next (nearly) decade in and out of the hospital with unexplained illnesses. Sheree finally found the courage to go inward and heal. It was through healing the relationship with herself, and having the courage to speak up and be seen, that she was able to accept the gift in her pain.
In her book, Surviving Silence: A Healing Path to Living Out Loud After Trauma, Sheree shares her story and takes readers on a journey of self discovery inviting them to rediscover and reclaim the forgotten pieces they’ve stashed away. She reminds us that everyone is worthy and capable of healing no matter what they’ve been through.
In a recent conversation Sheree shared some of what she’s learned.
