This 60-minutes is all about: 1) Enter Philip of the original Seven Deacons from Acts 6:5. The book of Acts follows the Acts of Apostles, Deacons, Winners, and Losers. Phillip was a powerful proclaimer of the Gospel. The people listened because he spoke so fantastically. He must have had a stellar personality because many people listened to him and were in awe. After all, people flock to the “pretty people,” don’t they? Not the godly. The godly flock to where God is. When the power of God is there, people listen. 2) The enemy was being driven out. Sickness was on the run. And the people were filled with great joy. The world was changing before their eyes. Was it the Green New Deal? No. Was it the lower gas prices? Sorry. Was it the defeat of the Roman empire right in front of their eyes? Not too much. It was the power of the Gospel beating back the devil and curing people’s diseases. It was the Gospel bring hope in dark times. 3) Simon, the Sorcerer. Every phony needs a nifty nickname. This dude was fooling people into believing that he was Wayne Gretzky, with people calling him, The Great One. But it was all smoke and mirrors. He used deception to proclaim greatness. He must have been a politician.
