What we do during the week is important because everything we do affects other people. This includes how we treat the cashier, finishing our tasks on time at
work, or doing a favor for a friend. When it specifically comes to work, our attitude, work ethic, and perspective can have a larger influence on those around us than we think. In Philippians 2:14–15, Paul tells the Philippians to do everything without arguing or grumbling, so they may be blameless. If we are to be an example of what a child of God looks and acts like, we are to put aside the strife and contention we may have while being patient and content with the work before us. Whether it is arguing and grumbling toward God, or with those around us, we shouldn’t allow the Monday mood keep us from shining our light for Christ. Whether we like our job or not, there are other people in the work environment who can either benefit or suffer from our work ethic. If we decide to have a lazy Monday at work, someone else could get behind. We wouldn’t be good stewards over the task we’ve been given.
