Men, hide your emotions. Don’t feel them. Don’t process them.
Don’t show them. Don’t be weak.
Real men don’t care about how they look.
Real men don’t express emotions.
Real men burry their emotions.
This is the message that is taught to young boys, to men in the western world.
There is a war against the excellence of men in the modern world.
Men are taught to not feel and express emotion.
Express sadness = you’re weak.
Express anger = you’re toxic.
Express empathy = you’re a simp.
Express compassion = you’re not a dominant king.
All of these messages are false, incomplete and are designed to make you less than what you are.
EVOLVE is at war with the mediocrity of modern men…all mediocrity…and it begins with being at war with these lies.
Men are strong when they feel sadness, because in the darkness they feel the depth of the soul.
Men are godlike when anger is felt, because our nature is that of the natural world…winds, storms and tectonic plates shift.
Men are powerful when empathy is expressed, because the depth of emotion inside can only be understood by understanding the emotion in others.
Men are unstoppable when they are compassionate, because love is the most powerful renewable force, in the universe.
In EVOLVE 68 returning guest Tanner Guzy joins Steve and Myles to discuss the power of emotional awareness and expressions.

“My name is Tanner Guzy and I want you to dress better.
I grew up in a family where a reputation mattered. It comes with the territory of having a unique name and, whether I liked it or not, the way I dressed affected my reputation.
When I was in junior high I made sure that all my T-shirts were from the BMX companies whose parts I owned or the punk bands whose shows I attended. As I got older, I learned that my clothing reflected more than just my status within my chosen hobbies and I had to adjust it accordingly.
For ten years I wore a suit and tie six days a week and it became as comfortable to me as the cargo pants and baggy UGP T’s I wore as a punk kid.
Now I’m able to dress as up or as down as I want, while still telling me story and expressing myself.
A lot of men don’t like to admit to themselves or anyone else that their image matters, so they pretend to just ignore it. But even someone as slovenly as Jeff Lebowski wouldn’t walk out in public in a dress or just a garbage bag. On the most basic level, all men know that their clothing communicates who they are, what they think of themselves, and the respect they command (or fail to) from the world around them.”
