Her role as a participant in transforming lives began as a trailblazer for single parent families and lecturing to leaders who are interested in leading them. As an ordained clergy, Dr. Hawkins has served as a Regional Women’s Ministry Consultant on behalf of the national office in the United Church of Christ (UCC) in Cleveland, Ohio. Serving over 219 churches as a liaison and resource representative, she provided spiritual support for more than 20,000 women. She continues to offer her gifts as a speaker, lecturer, workshop/seminar presenter and mentor. Today, she continues to provide mentoring for women and teenage girls who not only seek spiritual guidance, but also seek understanding and wisdom about a variety of life issues and concerns.
She is the bestselling author of Building a Vineyard: 7 Steps toward a Greater Purpose. Other recent work includes hosting her TV show in Raleigh, NC called The Vineyard, promoting individuals and community organizations who strive to make the community a better place. She has been noted in Ebony magazine and with Black Enterprise.com. Her servanthood also includes: serving as an associate pastor at Maple Temple United Church of Christ, Raleigh, NC.; having served as a therapist in mental health rendering counseling services to adults and children, an adjunct religion instructor, and a hospital chaplain providing pastoral care and counseling where she received three clinical pastoral education (CPE) units.
