Pastor Barbara Moyer Lehman brought the sermon on this, her first Sunday back from a 3 month sabbatical. She shared her thanks for the spiritual renewal she experienced, commenting that time away from ministry responsibilities is important to allow pastors to rediscover their center in Jesus. The writer of Hebrews 12:18-29 was speaking to this idea, urging the recipients of the letter to stay centered on Jesus. We must keep moving on our journey with Christ, learning and growing. Otherwise, we find ourselves adrift or stagnant. What lessons can we learn from Hebrews?
- Keep our eyes on Jesus
- Leading a Christian life is a marathon, not a sprint
- We must be strengthened for the race
- Listen for God's voice
- Rejoice and be thankful
