A) Because it’s Tuesday, I’m taking some liberty. This is a particular “Person in the New Testament” Bible Study. I have taught on some of these before, but a review is worth our time. We won’t touch on each person in the New Testament, but the ones will cover are intended to bring us closer to understanding these brothers in Christ.
B) We start with the first author of the New Covenant. We dive into a review of our brother, Matthew. We examine the bravery of Jesus in selecting Matthew. We talk about the dating controversy, which is not that much of a controversy. But people love to live in speculation of trying to diminish the word of God.
C) Without dispute, we can see that Matthew directed his Gospel to the Jews. How can we possibly know that? He is the only Gospel author that does not explain the Jewish customs because his audience would know the Jewish traditions if they were Jewish. How many people start, continue, and finish in their placement before the Lord? Not many. But Matthew did.
