Years ago I heard this statement: you are not your customer
I had never considered this view point before. A lot of businesses are born from a problem someone solved for themselves. And this starting spark makes it easy to relate to the customer you are selling to.
But what if you’re creating a product for a demographic that you can't quite relate to?
As a founder of a demi-fine jewellery brand, most of my customers are those who have disposable income. I am grateful to have made amazing friends with some of my customers. But the fact that we are in a different season of life, makes for some awkwardness at the beginning.
