The penitential psalms, of which Psalm 6 is an example, are often raw and transparent as they convey the writer’s anguished cries for God to extend mercy and forgiveness. While the psalm begins with David’s fear that God is disciplining him or has even turned His back on him, a dramatic change takes place as David makes a thrilling discovery about the nature and character of our loving – and kind – heavenly Father.
