Welcome to The Castro Files!
In the episode we cover the mysterious deaths of 9 very experienced Russian hikers. This is The Dyatlov Pass Incident, and it may have finally been solved after 64 years.
In 1959 an adventurous group of students, led by Igor Dyatlov, trekked into the Ural Mountains and set up camp. Between February 1st and 2nd, something happened causing all 9 to flee their shelters, many in nothing but their undergarments. The temperatures at that time of year were -30 degrees Celsius, or -22 degrees Fahrenheit. Some of the students died from exposure and hypothermia, while others were found at the bottom of a ravine with extreme physical trauma. Many people have speculated that it could have been Russian bomb tests, a UFO, and even our favorite, a Yeti. What's your theory on this event? Was it a case of bad timing or something else? #dyatlovpass #hiking #russia #scareypodcast #scarystories
