Listen to your body. This means paying attention to your body’s signals and responding appropriately. By listening to your body, you can avoid pushing yourself too hard and care for yourself much better. It could involve taking breaks when you’re tired, eating when you're hungry, and getting enough sleep.
Unfortunately, I didn't listen to my body because I thought I was doing the best thing ever. My problem was that I had to stop going to the gym for at least a month because I was going too hard in the paint on the weight machines.
A cautionary tale, stop sign, whatever you want to call it, for women who wish to return to the gym after a certain age and decide, “well, I'm going to go in because if I don't feel, the pain is not bothering me.” Wrong! Listen to your body. When you are tired, stop. Take time to heal. Unfortunately, I didn't do that for myself.
