Menopause is a word that used to induce fear and discomfort for many women, but it doesn't have to be that way. Finally people are starting to talk about the changes that occur during this time, and helping women recognize, prepare, and embrace this important stage in a woman's life.
So what is menopause? Menopause is the 12 month period in a woman's life after her period has stopped. Peri-menopause is directly before this and post-menopause is after the 12 month mark, and will last the rest of a woman's life.
Nowadays with life expectancy rates rising, it's quite possible that women may even spend more time in peri/menopause and post-menopausal states than pre-menopause. So let's take the time to learn and understand what's going on!
There are lots of changes going on in the body during menopause, and many reflected in the skin. This week on my podcast, I'm talking with Dr. Kemmy, a board-certified dermatologist and top selling author of 'LIVE & LOOK YOUNGER: A Dermatologist’s Guide to Youthful Skin and Ageless Beauty' who will help shed some light on the skin changes that occur during this stage of life, and how women can prepare and embrace these changes.
