Kate’s Story - Today we meet Kate who is an author, Executive Producer of the film Overfed and Undernourished, podcast host and business owner. She tells us about her journey into motherhood which started with her eldest son Xavia.
Working in the wellness space, Kate and her husband Anthony spent months preparing their bodies for conception and taking a completely natural approach to pregnancy and birth. After securing a midwife Kate opted for a homebirth and although she describes her first birth at home as a long and a tough labour she was so relieved in her decision to trust her intuition and bring her beautiful son into the word in the comfort of her own home.
Kate then goes on to tell us about her second son Bodhi who was born at 44 weeks gestation, Kate explains the outside pressures she received from friends and family to have an induction and how she, together with her trusted medical team decided to trust her body and baby and go on to have another beautiful unmedicated birth at home.
By the time Kate's daughter Zara came along, life was busy and beautifully chaotic as she describes it and she went on to have a third beautiful home birth with the same midwife that had been present for her two sons. She describes the moment of delivering her daughter with her two sons watching on in awe of her.
We also chat about Kate’s documentary, overfed and undernourished, her book - Raising Healthy families in unhealthy times and her podcast 'Empowered Women’s Project'. We also discuss what motherhood is like while running a large business and she shares with us the life pivot her and husband Anthony took, selling everything to move to a farm in Northern NSW and be more connected as a family.
