The Unavailable Preacher

On many occasions I have answered my phone and the person on the other end of the call is surprised that I actually answered the phone.  Some express almost amazement that I talked with them.  When I enquire as to why they feel that way, they express that they normally cannot get in touch with “preachers” at all and sometimes when they actually do there is some long wait before the conversation happens.  Is this right?  Let's examine these things from the Scriptures.
