WOAC On Air – 13 April 2023 Inspiration brought by Murdel, Angelina Episode 46 – The Divine Exchange
1. What does the work on the cross mean to WOAC?
1 CROSS + 4 NAILS + 1 BODY = Perfection!!!
John 3.16 -
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the
world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
Son – Kinship/descendant of God – God’s kind died so that mankind can be restored to God kind
children
John 3.14-15 “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be
lifted up,[f]
15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” – Biblehub Greek/Hebrew
root word
Be lifted up ὑψωθῆναι (hypsōthēnai) lift up, set on high, to elevate
Believes - πιστεύων (pisteuōn) From pistis; to have faith, i.e. Credit; by implication, to entrust.
Eternal - αἰώνιον (aiōnion) Perpertual- life operates simultaneously outside of time, inside of time,
and beyond time – i.e. what gives time its everlasting meaning for the believer through faith, yet
is also time-independent. “Thus believers live in "eternal (166 /aiṓnios) life" right now,
experiencing this quality of God's life now as a present possession.” Eternity, forever
Life - ζωὴν (zōēn) life, both of physical (present) and of spiritual (particularly future) existence.
From zao; life. All life zōḗ), throughout the universe, is derived – i.e. it always (only) comes from
and is sustained by God's self-existent life. The Lord intimately shares His gift of life with people,
creating each in His image which gives all the capacity to know His eternal life.
What does the work on the cross mean to you Murdel?
to - hina - in order that/ so that
John 10.10The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they
might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
kléptēs – a thief who steals by stealth (in secret), rather than in the open with violence
erchomai – cometh (to come and go)
thyo- kill - to kill as a sacrifice and offer on an altar. 2380 /thýō ("sacrifice") means more than
"kill" as it also suggests offering something as a spiritual sacrifice
destroy - apollumi: to destroy, destroy utterly
While we were yet sinners Jesus died for us – what does this mean to you Murdel?
Romans 5.7-8 “Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone
might possibly dare to die. 8
But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us. - Covenant arrangement made between God and mankind through
Abraham/God at mount sinai
(John recognised Jesus as Friend to them all) John 15:13 - Greater love has no one than this, that
he lay down his life for his friends. phílos – a friend; someone dearly loved (prized) in a personal,
intimate way; a trusted confidant, held dear in a close bond of personal affection.
God calls Abraham “My friend—
ō·hă·ḇî) human love for another, includes family, human love for or to God, act of being a’( ֹא ֲה ִֽבי׃
friend, God's love toward man, to righteousness, friends
Abraham was willing to lay down his son for God, and Jesus did the same John 10.17-18 “The
reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life--only to take it up again. No one takes it
from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take
it up again. This command I received from my Father."
2. HOLY COMMUNION
1 Corinthians 11.23-31
23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my
body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” 26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
27 So then, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Everyone ought to examine themselves before they eat of the bread and drink from the cup. 29 For those who eat and drink without discerning the body of Christ eat and drink judgment on themselves. 30 That is why many among you are weak and sick, and a number of you have fallen asleep. 31 But if we were more discerning with regard to ourselves, we would not come under such judgment.
Proclaiming the Lord’s death (sacrifice once and for all – no more sacrificial offering needed for redemption of sins) – Jesus justified all mankind from unrighteousness – Romans 5.18-21
18Consequently, just as one trespass resulted in condemnation for all people, so also one righteous act resulted in justification and life for all people. 19For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.
20The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord
Righteousness - dikaióma: an ordinance, a sentence of acquittal or condemnation, a righteous
deed- a thing pronounced (by God) to be righteous (just, the right); or the restoration of a
criminal, a fresh chance given him; a righteous deed, an instance of perfect righteousness.
