In this episode, we're joined by two talented guests. First up is Marquez Cassidy, whose music blends genres from gospel to funk, pop-rock to jazz, and more. Raised in a small town, Marquez's childhood was filled with performances and church meetings where he honed his skills as a singer and organ player. He credits his family, education at the Berkeley College of Music, and mentors for inspiring his unique sound.
Next, we have Micki Bare, a graduate of NC State University and accomplished children's book author. She has published several early-reader chapter books and contributed to anthologies and magazines. Today, she'll be reading from the first book in her middle-grade series, Zahra of the Uwharries. In Society of the Sentinelia, readers follow the adventure of a Sprite named Zahra, who befriends a human child as she searches for her missing family.
