The Insider Travel Report Podcast
Society & Culture:Places & Travel
Cynthia Zammit Maempel, a licensed guide furnished by Visit Malta, gives James Shillinglaw of Insider Travel Report a three-day tour of fabulous Malta. In part two of this three-part series, Maempel takes us to Gozo, the quieter more laid-back island where the Maltese themselves like to go on vacation. We take a ferry to the island to discover the pre-historic Ġgantija Temples, built before the famous standing stones at Stonehenge, and a remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site. We visit the Qbajjar Salt Pans on the north coast of Gozo, where 350-year-old salt pans still produce salt for the local population. We visit the Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary, site of a religious miracle, have lunch at Neolitik Kitchen & Lounge and explore Rabat (Victoria) and its famous Citadel, part of the ancient fortified city at the center of the island.
