In this talk, Ryan Saville delves into the concept of 'contextualisation', comparing it to the transformation of the Kutol soap company's product into Play-Doh. Saville posits that as Kutol's product was successfully re-contextualized for children, the gospel message should also be adapted to different cultures and situations, while remaining true to its core message. Drawing on scriptures like Philippians 2.10 and Romans 1.16, he argues that understanding one's cultural lenses can help Christians read the Bible in a relevant way. Saville warns against 'under' and 'over' contextualisation, underlining the need for balance. He ends by urging Christians to challenge cultural norms and resist persecution for the gospel's sake, emphasising the transformative power of the gospel message in different contexts.
