The month of May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. During the month of May, the Moana Nui Podcast will host four panels to discuss various topics.
Hula is the heartbeat of the people of Hawaii. On this panel, we will approach this conversation from different angles and perspectives, from multiple generations and diverse teaching experiences both in and outside of Hawaiʻi. Our panelists help us to understand the kuleana (responsibility) that comes with preserving and perpetuating our cultural practices and the dangers of appropriation when this sacred responsibility is not handled with care, honor, and respect.
Interact, comment, and engage with our conversation with our panelists:
• Hokulani Holt-Padilla - Kumu Hula
• Kanoelani Davis – Kumu Hula
• Michelle Manu – Kumu Lua
• Leialoha Kaʻula – Kumu Hula
