NORTH PLATTE, NEB – The June 20th North Platte City Council meeting has come and gone, and the council went through their agenda. Some of the highlights from the council meeting included the second reading of ordinance 4129, which is a two-mile extension zone near State Farm RD and South Buffalo, what's going on during NebraskaLand Day’s, the jobs and housing situation in North Platte, and the relationship between supply and demand.
The reading of ordinance 4129, which is the two-mile extension zone around State Farm RD and South Buffalo RD was having its second reading since the June 5th city council meeting. The two-mile zone is roughly a two-mile circle around North Platte. “If you live in that area and build something new, you have to comply with the city's building standards” said North Platte Mayor Brandon Kelliher. “The reason we are doing this, is that there is a housing development being proposed on the edge of the two-mile zone and the two-mile zone would have cut right into the middle of it.”
