Hi Sister-friend,
There is so much talk about childhood trauma these days, but what exactly is it, and what are the impacts? Does every negative event in childhood result in trauma?
I answer these questions and more in today’s episodes.
I often see two scenarios with women seeking help. Some have experienced events that resulted in trauma, but because it is not classified as a big event, they deny the impact of their experience.
In the other camp are women who have experienced what is called the bit ‘T’ trauma events but can't put words to their experience, so they feel very alone and continue to suffer in silence.
To help you understand more about trauma and how it develops, I will share research and resources - including a childhood trauma test - that explain trauma events and buffers that often prevent it from developing in children. I will also walk through the Adverse Childhood Experiences quiz so you can get an idea of what is generally considered triggering events for trauma development, and I share how to approach or process the results of the childhood trauma test.
I’ll share my ACES score and what it meant for me in hopes that it encourages you to explore your results. Know that your result is not a life sentence or indicator of what the rest of your life will be like. It is simply information to aid your understanding and help you decide what is next for you in your healing journey.
Finally, there are practical steps you can take after completing your childhood trauma test.
I hope you find the information useful and supportive.
Blessings and Love
Jenniel
