Is there a moral cause for addiction? Is addiction a disease? Can it be both? In this episode I'm joined by Michael Cossette who is a retired pharmaceutical chemist, author, scientist, and recovery advocate. We discuss God, science, and addiction and how they all fit together, or not. Michael shares his story of recovery and we examine the "war within ourselves" discussed in Romans 7:15-25 - wanting to do what is right and failing. We also talk about the importance of love and connection in the recovery process; what it means to suffer in silence; and the possibility that we are on the cusp of a major paradigm shift in the world of recovery understanding and treatment.
