Canon Rath talked with Scott Foster about the upcoming 12 Angry Jurors play this weekend presented by the Gothenburg Community Playhouse.
NORTH PLATTE, NEB - The Gothenburg Community Playhouse presents 12 Angry Jurors this weekend. The play will be performed at the Sun Theatre in Gothenburg. The play is an adaptive of the 1957 film 12 Angry Men by Reginald Rose. This is the first drama the Gothenburg Community Playhouse has performed since 1986 when the group performed Inherit the Wind. The playhouse typically performs comedies.
The film bases around 12 men in a room trying to decide the verdict of a murder trail while one juror votes against everyone. For the play adaptive, they wanted to include men and women. "We decided we wanted to put that on stage in Gothenburg and do it as 12 Angry Jurors so it wouldn't just be men in there, so we have about half and half men and women," said Scott Foster. "We try to adapt to a little bit more modern style, but it still has a wonderful message about how a jury room might look."
The play is this weekend, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Friday and Saturday's showings are at 7 pm, while Sundays showing is at 3 pm. Cocktails and canned beverages will be served Friday and Saturday. You can purchase advanced tickets. Advanced adult tickets are $15 while advanced children's tickets are $10.
