Should I be focusing more on sales or marketing? Many people argue that sales is the top priority, but I'm going to contradict that and I'm going to say marketing comes first. And my reasoning is that the old saying that people like to buy from people they know, like and trust. Well, how do you build the trust over time from people getting to know you?
How do they decide if they like you or they need to know you again? The first word is no. And how do they know you won't? Either they match you or they see your marketing pieces. So again, people will buy based on your marketing. They will buy based on knowing you. So you got to get known before you get sold.
So get yourself known, build a big marketing campaign. Make sure people know you like you and trust you and do that through marketing and you'll be able to drive the sales. Do I believe that you can get zero sales without marketing? No. You will sell even if you don't market. But do you want to sell one thing or do you want to sell many things?
