Emilie grew up in a car and motorcycle loving family, and knew early on that she wanted to work on motorcycles when she grew up. After high school she landed a job at a Ducati dealership and became the first qualified female Ducati technician in the UK. She worked at dealerships and independents shops for several years before leaving to pursue a long time dream of being a race mechanic. She found a home working in the British Superbike championship.
In a desire to further her career, she decided that becoming an engineer would bring her closer to her goals. She went to work at JCB and British heavy machinery manufacturer, which allowed her to do a degree apprenticeship program to be come a mechanical engineer. She went to school 1 day a week, while developing diesel and testing engines on the other days. She earned a first class honors degree and one several apprenticeship awards. After many years doing that she had a brief period developing motorcycle helmets before changing industries again to work in the defense industry, where she is now, developing the next generation of military land vehicles.
